Sad to hear bout PJ passing. He was a joy to watch play ball in high school. He was a leader off the court as well. I told my son to watch him and copy him to be successful. Mrs. Johnson, you and your family are in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteAs PJ's mentor, I want to express my grief at the loss of such a kind-hearted, polite, and determined young man. He never corrected me when I called him "Patrick" through half of C/I, and though he was too independent to need me very much, whenever he would visit, I would see him having grown in the absence more and more. He was trying out the idea of becoming an educator, and that's a real loss for our future, knowing that someone like PJ won't share his patient guidance and good heart with a younger generation. To say that he deserved better is a vast understatement. My deepest condolences to his family and great big circle of friends.
ReplyDeleteHe was an amazing young man with a very promising future. PJ, nephew, you will be missed!

ReplyDeleteyou can ask around Diboll about PJ and mostly everyone will have a beautiful story to tell about him. PJ was one of the nicest people I've ever met, and he was a beautiful soul. he touched the lives of so many. Heaven gained a great angel. Rest easy up there with PawPaw PJ. much love.
ReplyDeleteWe were so saddened to hear of the tragic death of our student P.J. Johnson. P.J. was in my English 114/Expository Writing class several years ago. I remember him as a conscientious and decent young man who never missed class—even when he was tired after a sporting event—and who was serious about self-improvement in his writing . I had just seen and said hello to P.J. in the cafeteria a week ago. He gave me one of his friendly but shy smiles to let me know he was still glad to see his former teachers, even when they made him work hard. I wish P.J. had been given a second chance of surviving this tragic car accident, just as he was always given second chances to revise his writing in class. My heart goes out to his mother and the rest of his family and friends, including his fellow athletes, fraternity members, mentor, Brian Watkins, and the Austin College campus and community. We will miss you in person, P.J., but your spirit will live on with us.
