Remembering Sara Bernice Moseley


The Austin College community lost a treasured and much-beloved friend with the death of Sara Bernice Moseley, 95, on July 18. Her contributions to the life of the College and the thousands of alumni, faculty, staff, and friends she has touched are beyond measure. The community offers heartfelt condolences to her family, including three children, Sara Caroline, John, and Rebecca, and their spouses, plus four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Remembering Amaud Hassan

The Austin College community is deeply saddened to learn of the death of sophomore Amaud Hassan, 19, of Denison, Texas, in a single vehicle accident in Whitewright, Texas, Friday evening, November 2. According to police reports, Amaud apparently lost control of his 2007 motorcycle on a curve. Amaud lived in Denison with his family, which includes his sister Sara, a senior at Austin College.

Remembering Andy Williams

Andy Williams
The Austin College community was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Andy Williams, long-time technical director of Ida Green Theatre. Andy, a 1974 graduate of Austin College, began his campus career as a carpenter in Physical Plant following graduation. In 1984, he began his position in the theatre, in what now is the Department of Communication, Media Studies, and Theatre.

The Austin College community is mourning the loss of legendary former coach Ralph “Slats” McCord, who passed away at his home. A 1950 graduate of Austin College and one of the most beloved figures in the school’s history, McCord coached six sports over the span of five decades.

College Mourns Death of Chase Gaddy

The Austin College community is saddened by the death of freshman Chase Gaddy of Dallas in a motorcycle accident Wednesday, February 23, in Sherman. The accident occurred east of Sherman on Highway 82.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share this sad news with our community," said Austin College President Marjorie Hass. "I know our students, faculty, and staff join me in prayers of comfort for Chase's family and friends."

Chase was a resident of Baker Hall, a diver on the Austin College swim team, and had participated in Austin College football in the fall. He was a member of Hank Gorman's Communication/Inquiry freshman seminar class.

Wake/Viewing were held on Sunday, February 27 at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home on Northwest Highway.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 28 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Abrams.
